Each encaustic photograph artwork is one of a kind. Printed on archival fine art photographic paper and  mounted on a wood panel, each piece is hand painted with pan pastels and then painted with encaustic wax.

Encaustic paintings are made with beeswax and demar resin (a natural tree sap that acts as a hardening agent). Occasionally I will incorporate oil paints, PanPastel, Deco Foil and other materials. I paint in layers, fusing each layer with heat.

Encaustic painting has a long history, dating back to the 5th Century B.C. The word encaustic means to burn in, which refers to the process of fusing the paint. Beeswax is impervious to moisture, it will not deteriorate, nor will it yllow or darken. Encaustic paintings do not have to be varnished or protected by glass. Simply hang and enjoy.

Encaustic Care:

Encaustic paintings are very durable, however I recommend displaying them out of direct sunlight. Avoid exposing paintings to extreme temperatures. When transporting, cover the face of the painting in wax paper. Do not use bubble wrap directly on the painting as it may leave an imprint on the surface.
